Drake surprised the crowd in Houston when Travis Scott brought him on stage at the 2021 Astroworld Festival last Friday. As has been widely reported, tragedy struck the event when 8 people lost their lives during a crowd surge at the fest. Travis Scott has released statements about the event, announcing that he will cover the funeral of those who died, as well as refund all the attendees of Astroworld.
Drake has now issued an official statement of his own on Instagram, writing. “I’ve spent the past few days trying to wrap my mind around this devastating tragedy. I hate resorting to this platform to express an emotion as delicate as grief but this is where I find myself. My heart is broken for the families and friends of those who lost their lives and for anyone who is suffering. I will continue to pray for all of them, and will be of service in any way I can. May God be with you all.”
